In a statement to Qatar News Agency, an official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed his regret and surprise over the remarks made by Pope Benedict XVI on Islam, its teachings and the Prophet Mohamed peace be upon him.
The source has further noted that such remarks are unacceptable, and go against the historic and humanitarian facts of the tolerant Islamic faith, its principles and values which are based on mercy, compassion, tolerance, justice, love and good and constructive preaching.
The official source, in addition, has expressed his regret and condemnation of the aggressions on the Christian worshipping places as a result of these remarks, stressing the sanctity of such places and calling, in the meantime, for adopting wisdom, tolerance and steering away from such reactions that would not serve the constructive dialogue among religions and civilizations.
