Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development a non-profit private institution, Qatar Foundation was established in 1995 on the initiative of H.H. the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani. H.H. Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser , the Emir's Consort, chairs the foundation and guides it to implement its objectives and programs. To achieve its objectives, Qatar Foundation has set up a number of affiliated organs and independent administration which are all linked through the Foundation in the fields of education, health and community development.
The Education City Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development celebrated the inauguration of the Education City in 2003. This is a pioneering project aimed at the qualification of cadres and investment in human resources with a view to promote future thinking and creative solutions. Qatar Foundation embraces scientific specializations and fields of study given priority in Qatar and the region with emphasis on those branches related to the oil and gas industry, engineering, business administration, administrative research and educational programs through a basis of science and technology. It opened branches of world-renowned universities in the fields of technologies, management, economics, engineering and international affairs. Qatar Foundation observes a system of values with all its partners by full utilization of human potentials, respect of variation, respect of individual and society and social responsibility. Many students are engaged in curricular and voluntary extra-curricular activities. The universities in Qatar Foundation seek to prepare students to work in energy sector, administration, research and developing new products in addition to participating in other vital resources which help the Gulf region maintain its economic prosperity in the future. Cultural programs of music and visual art offered by Qatar Foundation aim to revive creative art, which Arab Gulf region has always been known for, by protecting history and being a social forum to stimulate citizens to think about current issues. Students, faculties and staff come from 60 countries around the world. This fertile mixture of nationalities, expertise and cultures provides a rich source for education.
Academic Bridge Program Academic Bridge Program was established in 2001 in cooperation with TIEC in Texas to qualify a group of secondary school graduates in Qatar and the Gulf region to enroll in English-based university consisting of English Language (as a first language), Science, Mathematics, Computer and multi-media as well as developing computer and study skills to ensure the success of the students in international universities. The Bridge program is considered to be a pioneering project in the region as it provides excellent educational chances for both sexes and offers them a basic educational syllabus that helps them from the secondary education level to the university education level with ease.
Qatar Leadership Academy Qatar Leadership Academy started operating its first semester in September 2005 in collaboration with Qatar Armed Forces. The program aims to develop students' potentials by enhancing their self-confidence and self-discipline. The Islamic Studies Program aims to provide students with Islamic values and awareness of Arabic cultural heritage and encourage them to know other cultures. Students also learn national sublime heritage such as falconry, horse and camel riding, naval heritage, ethics of social gatherings and folk dancing. Upon completion of high school, graduates have the choice to join universities locally or abroad or join the Armed Forces or international military colleges in other countries. English language is the medium of instruction in the International Baccalaureate Program in grades 11 and 12 to prepare students for higher education in Qatar and abroad.
Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar (WCMC-Q) Weill Cornel in Qatar is the first American university offering a medical program outside USA. It is considered to be among the most outstanding clinical and bio-medical research centers in USA. Its mission is to be distinguished in education and offer excellent medical care and research. Weill Cornel offers an integrated medical program that combines pre-medical and medical programs. The staff are professors from Weill Cornell, USA. It adopts different admission policies for pre-med program and the medical program. Weill Cornel works in collaboration with Qatar Health Authority and Hamad Corporation and Qatar Foundation with view to elevating the level of health care in the country. It also collaborates with Sedra Center for Medicine and Research in Qatar Foundation which is due to be an outstanding educational hospital for the college so that both will be an academic medical center with international standards. Research program in bio-medical field carried out by Weill Cornel with partners in Qatar is designed to enhance research and training capabilities and execute special projects with special focus on genetic and molecular medicine in addition to gynecology and pediatrics.The first batch graduated in 2008.
Virginia Commonwealth University - College of Design in Qatar(WCMC-Q) VCU-Q was the first university established in the Educational City in 1998. In 2008, it turned out its seventh batch. VCU_Q offers a B.A degree of refined arts in fashion design, graphic design and interior design. The academic programs offered at VCU develops creativity in and passion for designing by encouraging application of ideas while maintaining regional heritage. VCU graduates contributed to the creative industry in Qatar which has become a basic element in know-how economy.
Carnegie-Mellon University Carnegie Mellon University offers a bachelor degree in Business Administration, Computer Science and Information Technology.Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar has started to offer its academic programs in Computer Science and Business Administration and the information technology program which connects the above two fields of specialization by providing the knowledge and skills to ensure the design of effective systems for information management. It started study programs which relates the two previous specializations by providing the necessary information and skills to ensure designing effective systems for data management. Carnegie Mellon trains qualified specialists to build infra-structure that meets the country's future needs. In collaboration with Qatar Science and Technology Park, Carnegie Mellon also offers a program in Executive Management of projects which targets the managers and employees of major and small companies and government agencies as well as individuals. The university opened its modern-equipped building in Qatar in 2009.
Texas A&M University-Qatar (TAMUQ) Texas A&M in Qatar offers educational programs leading to the bachelor degree in chemical, electrical, mechanical and oil engineering. These programs are considered to be among the best programs in the world and employers seek to hire the university's graduates aiming to provide leadership and innovative solutions to the challenges in their fields. Texas A & M turned out the first batch of its engineers in 2007 and started a master's program in engineering and sciences that combines academic study with developed applied research and innovative teaching in classrooms to ensure providing the student with the necessary leadership skills to occupy important position in any country of the world. George Town University(TAMUQ) Georgetown University is a branch of Edmund Walsh for International Affairs in Georgetown University's main campus in Washington, USA. The branch in Qatar offers a 4-year undergraduate program of Arts since 2005 with focus on international politics leading to the bachelor degree of International Affairs. Courses comprise government systems, economics, literature, philosophy, theology and other subjects that qualify the graduates to occupy leading positions in diplomatic, academic and non-profit work. Georgetown University opened the Regional and International Studies Center for research especially studies related to the Gulf and Middle East area. The Center conducts studies related to regional and international issues through dialogue, exchange of ideas, research, dealing with scientists and experts and activists. It likewise organizes various programs that serves the local community.
North Western University North Western University Founded in 2008,the university is the newest in the Educational City. It offers an undergraduate degree of Journalism and Media. It undertakes to train students to acquire the necessary press skills within an integrated arts and literature curriculum. Media program works to prepare students to occupy creative and administrative roles in media and entertainment.
Islamic Studies College In 2007, Islamic Studies College launched a general diploma program in Islamic Studies, then in February 2008 it started a masteral degree program in current jurisprudence and public policy. The college is considered to be a regional center for thought and Islamic dialogue with view to enhancing research related to Islamic culture. The college adopts English and Arabic as a medium of instruction in all its programs. The college contributes to implementing the mission of Qatar Foundation of providing education, conducting research, and ensuring the sustainability of the important aspects of the countries' culture by highlighting the current role of Islam. The college turns out graduates competent in Islamic jurisprudence and culture who are open to all wisdom and science provided by other cultures.

Qatar Academy Qatar Academy founded in 1996, Qatar Academy offers students, from kindergarten to grade 12, a comprehensive and integrated educational program that meets the students' academic, physical, social and cultural need in an optimal way. It also seeks to develop critical thinking skills and tendency for constant learning and enhance sense of responsibility among students and help them join the best high education institutions. Qatar Academy observes the highest academic and educational modern applied standards not only in the region but in the whole world. It also employs the most developed educational aids and technology.
Rand-Qatar Policy Institute The agreement to set up Rand-Qatar Policy Institute was signed on 28 April 2003. It is the most recent initiative by Qatar Foundation and will be an integral part of the Education City as a regional center of excellence in learning, research and technical development. There will be scientific links with the medical, engineering and designing programs as well as educational programs at the Education City. The Institute will train policy analysts in the region in research methods to help leaders to take sound political decisions based on a sound database. Rand-Qatar Policy Institute will support Qatar' position as a center of analysis and research in the Middle East and assist in the building of national and regional personnel capable of analyzing policies now that Qatar has become a pioneering Middle East country as regards accurate and objective analysis. It provides specific and strategic consultation to society inside Qatar and abroad in most human sectors and activities and works out plans to develop education.
The Learning Center The learning centre founded in 1996, the Learning Center works to provide students with opportunities that allows them to maximize the use of their abilities. Students at this center learn how to be capable of independent learning and offering diagnostic consultations in addition to educational and remedial services to the students with learning difficulties. In 2002, the Learning Center converted to a school containing grades from 1 to 12 to help students in their academic studies. The Learning Center turned out its first batch in 2006 and its graduates different universities such as Georgetown, North Atlantic College, Bridge Program and educational institutions abroad.
Qatar Science and Technology Park Qatar Science and Technology Park is considered a venue place for technology companies from around the world. It also oversees upcoming technology projects. The Park provides offices and laboratories that are well-equipped with the necessary means and programs of support required for accelerating trade transactions. The Park serves as a "free zone" which manages to attract by its privileges international technology companies to operate in Qatar.
Aid and Grants Qatar Foundation implements a program to extend assistance and provide educational grants to distinguished students admitted to universities in Qatar to help them complete their studies.
