Professional history: -Charge d'affair in Beirut, Lebanon 1972 - 1974. -Ambassador to E & P to Syria 1974- 1979 . -State of Qatar's Ambassador to France, serving concurrently as non resident Ambassador to Italy, Greece, Spain, Switzerland and Qatar permanent representative to UNESCO 1979 -1984. -He was Vice President of the Commission against Apartheid and a member of the advisory board of directors of the Dag Hammarshjold Memorial In 1989. -During his time at the UN, he also served as Vice President of the fortieth session of the General Assembly and as Chairman of the Special Political Committee in the forty second session. -Permanent Representative to the United Nations and also serving concurrently as non resident Ambassador to Argentina, Canada and Brazil 1984 - 1990. -Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the USA, and also non resident Ambassador to Mexico and Venezuela 1990 - 1992. -Minister of Information and Culture in the State of Qatar1992 - 1997 . -Chair of the Board of Governors, of the Doha Centre for Media freedom. -Member of the Board of Directors of Al-Jazira Network. -Member of the Consultative Authority for the High Council of GCC. -Member of Overseas Board of Directors of Rand Qatar Policy Institute. - Dr. Al-Kawari was decorated with the French Legion of Honour.
