H.E. Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassem Bin Jabr Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs said yesterday that he had conveyed a verbal message from H.H. the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani to the Syrian President Bashar Al Assad expressing thanks of the State of Qatar for the role played by Syria in reaching a solution to the Lebanese issue. He cited that Syria played an important role in helping to reach that solution.
Speaking to reporters following a meeting with the Syrian President at Damascus yesterday, Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassem Bin Jabr Al Thani also hailed the efforts of the Arab League and its ability in solving the Lebanese issue stating that Doha Agreement and Venesia Agreement at Beirut were crowning to that effort. H.E. added that if all Arab parties did not work hard in this issue, a solution could not be achieved.
H.E. Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassem Bin Jabr Al Thani asserted that Arab countries could reach positive solutions to their problems quickly provided there was full Arab agreement, citing in this regard the statement issued by the UN on the Israeli aggression in Lebanon.
H.E. the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs said that the solution of the Lebanese problem set an example for solving any Arab issue, particularly the Palestinian question and the Somali and Darfur issues, asserting the importance of Arab presence and agreement for solving any Arab issue.
