Moscow/QNA/05 May 2012/ HE Nasser Bin Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, President of the 66th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) was decorated with the title of honorary doctorate by Russian Academy of Sciences.
The honorably doctorate was being awarded in recognition of the UNGA President's tireless efforts in supporting and promoting dialogue between cultures and civilizations.
Speaking on this occasion, Professor. Vitaly Naumkin, Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies at the Academy hailed the role being played by HE Al-Nasser as UNGA President in promoting relations between people from different countries as an effective mean of promoting peace and security in the international arena.
During his visit to Moscow, which concluded last night, HE Al-Nasser has met with Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov.
Talks during the meeting dealt with the agenda of the UN General Assembly, including the high-level meeting on the Global financial and economic situation, scheduled for May, 17-18 and the high-level meeting on "the role of mediation in the settlement of disputes "due on May, 23 and the high level meeting in preparation for Rio+20.
HE Al-Nasser also has discussed with Russia's veteran politician and former Prime Minister, Evgeny Primakov the latest developments in the Middle East.
The UNGA President has made also an address in Lomonosov Moscow State University on the challenges and expectations of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
