Qatar Sustainable Development Plan Makes a Major Headway

| Doha/(QNA)06 June 2012/ The "sustainable development indicators of the state of Qatar 2011" issued here on Wednesday by Qatar's Statistic Authority (QSA) and the diplomatic institute at the ministry of foreign affairs reported a remarkable progress in the sustainable development indicators, demographic and social developments indicators as well as economic and environment indicators. The report, assessing the progress Qatar has accomplished on using available resources in a sustainable manner between years 2001-2011, showed that Qatar has achieved an outstanding headway in several developmental areas, it targeted to achieve before year 2015 in light of its Millennium developmental goals. Speaking at a press conference held here today, HE President of Qatar Statistics Authority, Sheikh Hamad Bin Jabor Al Thani said the report is the third one since years 2006 and 2009 and is considered the first joint collaborative work between the QSA and the diplomatic institute. He said the report's indicators are deemed crucial as they come within the state's quest to achieve the goals of the national vision 2030 and the national development strategy 2011-2016. HE President of Qatar Statistics Authority told reporter that both calls for a balance between the available resources and the development options to achieve sustainability. "Each indicator mentioned in this report comprises a definition, progress achieved and growth rate" He Sheikh Hamad Bin Jabor Al Thani added. |
