Qatar Urges World to Unite Against Bloodshed in Syria

United Nations/ (QNA) 07 June 2012/ The State of Qatar has called on the international community, once again, to stand together not only to condemn the heinous massacres committed in Syria, but also to put an end to the bloodshed in Syrian, to provide protection to civilians and put an end to violations and serious crimes committed against them. This came in the statement of Qatar's delegation, read out by HE the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikh Mish'al bin Hamad Al Thani, before the informal meeting of the United Nations General Assembly on the situation in the Syrian Arab Republic. The Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar said "We call on the Syrian regime to remove all obstacles put in front of the United Nations Observer Mission in Syria (UNSMIS) to implement its mandate it according to the UN Security Council Resolution 2043 (2012) to investigate into these massacres. We also call on the Syrian regime to enable the Independent Special Commission of Inquiry, set up by the United Nations Human Rights Council on 1 June 2012 to carry out its mission and uncover the perpetrators and designers of Al Houla massacre and bring those responsible for it to the International Criminal Court. "
