Consular Affairs Dep.
The Consular Affairs Department undertakes the following functions:
1- To protect Qatari nationals' interests abroad as well as monitor such interests in cooperation with Qatari diplomatic and consular missions abroad or Arab and Foreign diplomatic and consular missions in Qatar as well as Ministries and other governmental institutions.
2- To prepare rules and regulations applied to consular affairs in the light of valid laws, regulations and decisions, inform Qatari embassies and consulates abroad about such regulations and monitor their implementation.
3- To prepare regulations on the issue and extension of ordinary passport for Qatari nationals in accordance with official regulations and inform Qatari missions abroad about such regulations as well as issue of pass tickets when needed.
4- To authenticate certificates and documents issued by Ministries and governmental departments as well as diplomatic and consular missions accredited to the State of Qatar, and collect dues for that.
5- To deliver court documents and applications for deputation, in coordination with MOFA Legal Affairs Department.
6- To coordinate with competent authorities matters relating to the State of Qatar's exercise of rights of control and inspection of foreign ships and their crews as well as ships and aircraft registered in the State of Qatar and carrying its nationality when they are in other countries.
7- To coordinate with competent authorities provision of assistance to foreign ships and aircraft and their crews and receive notifications on their entry of or travel across Qatari waters and airspace as well as issue pass permits to non-commercial ships and aircraft in Qatari waters and space.
