The Asian Affairs Department performs the following functions:


1. To promote and develop bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and Asian States in political, economical, cultural, technical and other domains as well as monitor developments in these countries.
2.To study and analyze reports from Qatari diplomatic missions in Asian countries and state opinion on them.
3.To study and follow up issues and reports referred to it on conditions and developments in Asian countries as well as relations between the State of Qatar and Asian countries.
4. To follow up and direct Qatari diplomatic missions' activities in Asian countries.
5. To coordinate, monitor and promote relations with Asian countries' diplomatic missions in Qatar.
6.To monitor published in the Asian press with which the State of Qatar is concerned as well as analyze and state opinion on needed procedures or recommendations thereto, in cooperation with Mofa Information Office.
7.To monitor and study bulletins and other publications issued by Asian countries' missions in Qatar and state views and comments on them, in cooperation with Mofa Information Office .
8.To coordinate with Asian regional organizations and competent authorities in Qatar on topics referred to it on promoting cooperation with such organizations, in coordination with MOFA International Organizations and Conferences Department.
9.To prepare reports on the State of Qatar's relations with Asian countries and update such reports.
10.To draft agreements with Asian countries, in coordination with MOFA Legal Department.
11. To prepare for works of joint committees with Asian countries, take part in them and follow up implementations of decisions issued by them.
12.To prepare, follow up and coordinate visits by high-ranking official delegations from Qatar to Asian countries and prepare reports on such visits.
13.To prepare, follow up and coordinate visits to Qatar by high-ranking official delegations from Asian countries.
14.To report regularly on Qatari diplomatic activities in Asian countries.
